1981-1984 Apprenticeship as book printer and offset printer
1984-1986 Ausbildung in Köln als Musiker /Sclagzeuger
1990-1997 Degree course at the Berlin University of Arts, graduated as a Meisterschüler (Master student).
He then worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Frankfurt and then at the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart.
He has exhibited on many occasions in Berlin, Essen, Bonn and in Sibiu/Romania.
His works are to be found in many public buildings and spaces throughout Europe.

Matthias Deumlich's work can essentially be characterised as installations of sound, light and objects. Admittedly this implies a transgression of narrow lines, however amazingly
it creates something filmic, graphic and sculptural.
Reminiscences or cross-references create individual elements of work that can either stand on their own or be incorporated anew in other complex interrelationships, the individual
objects become charged within the context in such a way that this force also works within the isolated object.
