Application 005: Printing industry handlingBarenschee, Germany

To reduce assembly time and, therefore, production costs, more and more OEMs are using all-in-one drive rollers with integrated motors in their conveyor solutions. Easy and fast on-site maintenance is a further benefit that brings lower total costs of ownership for end customers and minimum downtime for time-critical automation applications. An excellent example is the German company, Barenschee, a leading supplier of prepress systems for the print industry.

Based in Luenebug, Germany, Barenschee is a leading manufacturer of prepress equipment for the print industry. The equipment is an important link between the editorial office and the printing press. Finished manuscripts, usually in the form of digital information, need to be transferred to aluminium printing plates that are the right shape and size for physically loading into the printing press. This is where the Barenschee equipment comes in. The prepress workflow starts with the photochemical process that transfers the digital information to the plates. The plates are then led by an automatic roller conveyor to machines that punch them and bend them into the right shape for loading into the printing press. Further conveyors then transport the plates to a turning station for forwarding either to other prepress equipment or directly to the press.
